General Manager: Business Support Systems

Our client, a leading African mobile telecom provider, is looking for a General Manager: Business Support Systems (BSS) to establish the groupwide BSS transformation strategy.

The responsibilities of the role:

  • Ownership the BSS strategy and application portfolio across all functional areas
  • Formulate and run the BSS transformation program across the relevant OpCos
  • Ensure BSS platforms can cater for all business requirements
  • Driving an enhanced customer experience with clear KPIs around transactional execution
  • Billing NPS across OpCos
  • Define and ensure key KPIs related to registration and service activation are met through the definition of standard processes and related platform capabilities
  • Reduce the overall cost to serve each customer
  • Unification of all service portals under a single core framework and elimination of disparate portals
  • Ensuring parity of function exposure across all channels
  • Define and track a value realization plan for the various initiatives
Professional background
  • Minimum 4-year Academic Degree with Honours (B Eng / BSc Degree preferred)
  • MBA or Masters advantageous
  • Relevant certification / accreditation / membership with professional body as required for role
  • English, French and Arabic (advantageous)
  •  8- 10 years’ senior management experience or more; with at least 5 years in relevant sector / industry /area of specialization (understanding of emerging markets advantageous)
  • Worked across diverse cultures and geographies and experience working in a large organization
  • Proven track record of business improvement and strategy development
  • Business acumen, problem solving and information processing
  • Data interpretation, judgement, continuous improvement, reporting
  • South African citizen and EE eligible
