I think the courses in data science are very good, but many of the business challenges, including deploying systems and convincing users, have not been addressed.
Coursera courses include some very simple practical applications. These applications, however, are usually related to the material directly before them. The courses contain few real-world exercises that involve limitations on resources or unclear instructions. Unfortunately, on Coursera you are at the whim of other students to have your questions answered (unless you’re going to stackoverflow), so finding resources to overcome issues or deal with unclear goals can be troublesome.
