I think is important to look for new customers apart from athletic people. One option could be adapting the training to the new customers who have to achieve the goals having fun. As an example defining new kind of goals (city tours, gymkhanas, etc.)
This is a great idea. Out of the top of my head, some options include:
- Personalized motivational messages. Send regular reminders to the customer on the goals she has set for herself with the coach.
- Rewards. Track remotely the key indicators (calories counters, steps) and trigger selected rewards for the customer – a go-ahead for eating some especially tasty fruit, a prize, send her a picture of something she especially likes etc.
- Challenges. At random times, prompt customer to do some physical activity that will be monitored by the smart watch or via text.
- “Picture wall”. Create a collective/group-based incentive. Gather all customers of a coach/personal trainer, and for the ones doing well according to some pre-agreed metric, add their picture to the customer daily wall of fame. Picture could be different every time, taken with the smart watch or the regular smartphone.
- New business model. Offer customers who sign up for the coach/personal trainer services the possibility of “sweat installments” on a smartwatch.
o That is, for each round in a training program agreed with the personal trainer (say, 15 days each) that is completed, the customer gets a % of the cost of the smart watch.
o An example of economics:
? Assumptions: An Apple smart watch costing about € 380; personal trainer costing € 80 per session (mid/high end in the UK) with a frequency of 2x week; 10% of the cost waived for every 2 weeks completed.
? Cost of promotion is 23% of RPU, making it net € 61 per session, still a reasonable figure. Combined with the novelty of the promotion, it should be offset by increased number of customers and a longer-lasting word-of-moth effect.
Sure we can think of more
Best of luck

Agreed with most of the inputs from Antonio and Jesus.
There may be many other options depending upon the market/customer need. We may think of bringing Smartwatches (wearables) and Personal Coaching /assistant under one platform to closely monitor activities in realtime and appropriately taking actions. On the top of this platform, one may develop a business model and extend the statistics to various entities….
