Most trends are driven by standards / technical development. Trends need to be analyzed on a country-by-country level als the usage of spectrum and the technical standard used are often determined by a local regulatory body.
STBs encompass DVB-T, DVB-S and IPTV boxes. Some of these are being integrated in TVs, which is an ongoing competition between manufacturers. Also we see demand for higher performance technical standards (codecs) as the edge of TV production moves from SDTV to HDTV to 4K and even first 8K TV sets.
In DVB-T we see the gradual shift in some countries from classical DVB-T/DTH television to DVB-T2. Again, this comes in two flavors.
DVB-S also has seen a technical change to higher-resolution/bundled satellite channels/higher performance encoding in recent years.
In IPTV we see pressure coming as there is a trend of certain distributors to produce their own content, which is exclusive to their platforms (E.g. Netflix). Again, we see smart-tvs which have the necessary equipment already built in, whilst IPTV boxes e.g. chromecast offer the same ability for older or less pricey TV equipment.
I can only scratch the surface here, but I hope it helps.
