A REST API sends you a list of results back from the service you’re requesting from.
An API is an application programming interface, a set of rules communicate.
An API request is made up of four things: endpoint, method, headers, data/body.
REST is one specific set of rules. REST is an architecture type. It is not dependant on the protocol (HTTP, FTP, etc.). It follows a standard linked to the URI.
RESTful API design was defined by Dr. Roy Fielding.
To be a true RESTful API, a web service must:
1. Use of a uniform interface (UI): single URL, specific network protofol (PUT, GET, DELETE, etc.)
2. Be client-server based: data access, workload management and security on the server side
3. Use stateless operations: required state management on the client side
4. Use resource caching for all ressources
5. Use a layered system on the server side
6. Return code on demand.
Rest is Rest like hte song..Live is life!
