Great question, excellent timing! Quantum of course has applicability to virtually all spheres of life, work, and governance. Especially now - it is or will be one of the leading factors in helping humanity solve COVID-19 fast enough to save our economies from (further) collapse and preserve life / limit or reduce suffering. Cov-19 was a surprise that accelerated faster than imagined: it’s not as fast as a nuclear weapon - for which we use quantum regularly to anticipate and respond to hypersonic developments, space systems, etc - but it is otherwise a very fast-moving little microbe with an amazing reach.
HOW WE NEED TO START APPLYING QUANTUM: COVID-19
I have championed since early February, as others are now starting to as well, that quantum-based AI is the only ‘logical’ way to fight Cov-19; and whatever the next major world bio-threat might be. [As we move into space, we don’t know what we will encounter, if humans attempt to tera-form alien environments with clear signs of prior ‘life.’‘]
There are some 22,000+ NEW research papers or clinical studies published each WEEK on Cov-19. Buried in this mass is relevance. To our vaccine effort, to our treatment efforts, how to contain Cov-19 in the environment; and little gems buried deep in decades of chinese / other work against mers - sars - corona, like ACE2 inhibitors. Wow. For some 6 months, much of our ‘new work’ has really just been repeating historical work. And we are so pressed for time —it’s like being a long-distance swimmer where you can’t really catch your breath before the next wave hits - that is the current ‘mass exhaustion’ level I believe we are seeing, in terms of people so tired of this whole pandemic they are intentionally careless. Or so desperate for earnings they become incautious, and that gives us our current re-bound effect in global cases. We are deliberately harming ourselves, but as with a swimmer - I did long-distance sea swimming for years, in very tough currents, til a couple of years ago the ‘odds’ caught up with me and I was enjoying the sun, careless and got caught in a massive riptide off south Miami that would have killed me, had not a surfer been in the area on a fluke that day. I was so exhausted I could barely put my arm up for ‘help.’ By the time someone very strong at swimming realizes they are caught .. the damage is already done and they are very far off the shore. And then it takes every mental effort to fight the panic and fear. In deep sea it is like a primordial fear - “What is in the water with me?” It is terrifying. THIS IS LIKE OUR COVID-19 REACTION. We think we’re fine.. we’re enjoying life again, it’s summer and sunshine .. and then WHAM, we’re all fighting to stay alive.
QUANTUM MODELING APPLIED Since it arrived, we humans have been ‘helping’ Cov-19 adapt to our global diverse environments. We are ‘teaching’ it how to survive in our water, our swimming pools, on our postal mail (it loves paper-based products), and ... a horrible fear.. possibly how to begin to use single-cell bacteria or other organisms as its new ‘envelope’ or protective layer. Quantum AI, had a few major governments teamed up early enough, could have helped us model many useful things: 1 - pull the relevance out of decades of historical data and clinical tests worldwide, not just from China and not just from sars-corona-mers; it would have helped us analyze every single potential biological process and interaction involved in supporting Cov-19 attraction, attachment, budding, replication, infection .. and intervene at each of these key points. Other diseases emulate Cov-19 actions and so logically other cures are applicable. We just don’t have the luxury of time to identify and test in normal regulatory manner each potential solution or solution set. —I proposed to NIH Executive Leadership and the White House Science Office in February a quantum-based framework for condensing up to 7 years (per product) of normal biomed development and clinical trials into as little as 2 to 3 weeks. Using quantum-based AI and running multiple shifts 24 x 7 of national intelligence community, defense and biomed analysts. Humans have not changed much in the past 1,000 years. We interact to new environments and environmental factors, but we have a finite number of potential responses. There is a finite number of potential biological or cellular responses with Cov-19. Or any biological organism, whether dna or rna-based. We are still dealing with basic genetic-driven organism and response. AI systems learn, teach each other, identify signficance, make guesses and test years of probabilty results or emulate potential petri dish and real life clinical trials in a few hours. As opposed to 7 to 8 YEARS for the normal, standard, plodding and often cruel, current methodology for vaccine or drug development. (Cruel because of the animal and human suffering involved.) It’s still a pretty competitive field, in the Cov-19 R&D arena, and even the Cov-19 sourcing arena, so that’s about the level of detail one can go into online. CHEERS!
